It looks like a lot, but I don't think it is...

Homework:
for Limpets:
http://limpetsmonitoring.org/docs/RockyIntertidalFS_Aug2011.pdf

Read and Outline completely, as I have shown you in class.  [OK, if this link is not working for you, google "rocky intertidal fact sheet limpets" and look for the pdf, it should work in quick view, if nothing else.]
If you don't remember how to outline, go here:

or here:

Rocky Intertidal

I. This tells the First Main Point (clue: we did this in class last week in pairs).  It is basically the first page what you printed--some of you might still have this 3-page printout in your binders.  It is about the physical hazards/stresses and biotic conditions faced by organisms in the intertidal.
        A. xxxxxxxxxxx what this paragraph is about
             1.  detail, for example, etc.
           2.  another detail, etc.
             3.  and so on, until the come to...

        B.  The topic of the next paragraph
              1.  detail
               2. more detail.  etc.

There are 3 main topics, with sub-topics and details.  Please type or print legibly in ink.

Then, follow the links, starting here: http://limpetsmonitoring.org/what.php    >data entry and results   >Rocky Intertidal results    >graph   > choose Duxbury Reef/ vertical transect   > Now you are at "Create an Online Graph"  and this is where you play around to find interesting data, or at least to try to understand the graphs.  Remember to choose more than one organism, hold down the ctrl key and press enter.  Spend some time getting very familiar with these graphs.  Think about what questions they answer.

After, watch this video to help you see what might be learned from the data. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSyGWpM7vic

Please bring laptops again on Thursday to Coppermans.

To go over mitosis:

Lastly, correct your own tests.  Turn this in on Thursday.

  3. I have a question about the outline. If we've already done it in partners and have that paper can we just type that up. Or would you like us to ditch that and do it over?

  4. We outlined the first section in class (physical and biotic factors that challenge survival); do the last two sections on zonation and threats.
