Chapter 13 - Genetic Engineering - Homework

13.1 - Changing the Living World/ Study guide questions, vocabulary & key concepts  [selective breeding]

 http://www.ciwf.org.uk/includes/documents/cm_docs/2008/g/genetic_engineering_teacher_pack.pdf
Read pages 2-8.  Written by Compassion in World Farming, it tells the side of the suffering  animals whose DNA has been manipulated by science and agriculture.  Ethical considerations,  obviously one-sided, but it should be interesting.

For your model building:
a resource from the people who gave us the flyby tour of the cell which we watched in class today:
http://vcell.ndsu.nodak.edu/animations/flythrough/index.htm
On the left-hand side of the website there is a list; look for "Molecular Processes" and underneath that comes Translation, etc.ending with the lac operon-- those are the movies and interactives you should focus on.

remember:
Big Picture: find the players
Details: list the process. 1,2,3...
once you understand, then make your model.
Don't forget to review chapters 11&12 for test next Thursday.  Models/letter to Mendel also must be turned in on Thursday.  The test will be like the last one, but shorter, and will only take about half the class time.
