This one might be the best for learning, as it is explaned and not just demonstrated.  It's kinda star wars-spacey.

Ready for Duxbury!!!?!

1. Quiz yourself a little more: Photosynthesis quiz
Cellular respiration quiz
Also, if you were not able to reproduce the two diagrams on the in-class quiz, please work on this till you can do it from memory.

2. Moving On: Next week is our winter break, but we want to come back prepared to do some meaningful work.  So let's get ahead by reading Chapter 10 (3 sections) and filling out the study guide.

Then, to review before you come back to class, watch the Brightstorm videos, starting with Chromosome,
Cell DivisionBinary Fission, and Mitosis

Please note, this is not necessarily to be done by Thursday, but to be done by the Monday we return to class.

NO SCIENCE CLASS ON THURSDAY DUE TO VALENTINE'S CELEBRATIONS --- BUT...  on Friday we will go to Duxbury Reef, as you know.  I have plenty of room in my van, and those of you riding with me, or following me in your cars can meet at my house by 12:40.  All of us will meet in the parking lot of Duxbury in Bolinas a few minutes before 2:00 pm.  It takes about an hour to get there.
Dress in layers, wear the right shoes (not flip-flops, Uggs or expensive anythings) and perhaps a change of shoes and socks; bring cameras, water, snack, if you wish)

Plain Ol' Homework

Recap the Homework for Thursday:
Read Ch. 9.2, answer study guide questions.  Review the diagram (overview of cellular respiration) from 9.1 which we went over in class and draw it again and again until you can draw it from from memory.

For our photosynthesis video: write the paragraph you were assigned in class.  Remember to write in first person, telling who you are, your function (what you do) and your value (why you are important).  Think of a clever way to tell this, perhaps using an accent or funny voice and exaggerated facial expressions. Be creative.

(Anna, call me for your assignment.)

Lastly, in preparation for Thursday morning, when we will have a person from the LiMPETS program coming to give the orientation for our field trip to Duxbury Reef on the 17th (Friday), check out their website:  http://limpetsmonitoring.org/what.php
Also watch: Stand Up and Count   5 minutes.

homework

Very good work, yesterday, I thought.  We'll get back to it on Monday.
For homework, read chapter 9.1 + study guide questions.  Focus on glycolysis and memorize the first diagram, cellular respiration, an overview.
